Jaboulet Aine Hermitage La Chapelle 1991

Parker: Tasted at The Ledbury for lunch. A consistent note, a thrilling La Chapelle unfairly over-shadowed by the 1990. Do not overlook it, here demonstrating a reticent bouquet at first, but unfurling with time with liquorices, blackberry, game, singed leather and spices. Wonderful definition – a nose that takes you straight to the famous hill. The palate is full-bodied with exquisite balance, notes of fennel, game, black fruits and leather, with a dash of white pepper towards the finish. Great backbone here – this ’91 is in for the long-term. Drink now-2030. Tasted March 2009.
