Sammlerbox: Keller-Kiste »Von Den Grossen Lagen« 2013 in 12er Holzkiste

Lobenberg: Die »Keller-Kiste« ist so etwas wie der heilige Gral der Riesling-Fans. Unfassbar rar und begehrt. Einige Weine sind exklusiv, also nur in dieser Kiste erhältlich. Darunter auch der legendäre Kultriesling G-Max. Es ist also quasi das weiße Pendant zur DRC-Kiste. Einige Weine aus dieser Sammlung haben ich im Frühjahr 2014 verkostet: 2013 Hubacker GG: Säure 9,2 g, Restzucker 4 g, Alkohol 12,5. Ernte aller GGs in der letzten Oktoberwoche. Sehr pure, schiere Nase mit toller Exotik. Mango als vorherrschende Frucht mit gelber und roter Zitrusfrucht dazu, am Ende etwas Bisquit und Karamelle. Trotz der Exotik komplett verspielt. Nie fett werdend. Grandiose Mineralität im Mund. Purer Stein. Schmeckt wie aufgelöster Feuerstein. Das Ganze in etwas Minze schwimmend. Dazu süße Grapefruit, Mandarine, ein wenig Ananas und schöne Passionsfrucht. Sehr saftig, extrem guter Trinkfluss. Sehr lecker. Die leckere Saftigkeit überwiegt die deutliche Mineralität und Säure. Der Wein ist gß, aber eher lecker als puristisch oder gestylt. Sicherlich einer der schönsten Hubacker, die ich bisher probiert habe. Nicht so extrem gestylt oder puristisch wie 2012, aber eben extrem lecker und trinkig. Unglaubliche Trinkfreude. 98-100/100 *** 2013 Abtserde GG: Höchster Kalkanteil in Rheinhessen. Extrem feine und zugleich energiegeladene Nase. Feinste Melone, Birne, weißer Weinbergspfirsich, Zitronengras. Sehr puristisch, burgundisch. Nicht nur der Boden ist wie im Chablis, auch im Mund kommt der Wein wie ein Chablis Grand Cru rüber. Sehr energiereich und spannungsgeladen, das Hauptmerkmal dieses explosiven Ausnahmeweins. Einem Chablis Preuses Grand Cru durchaus vergleichbar. Wunderbar salziger, kalkiger Nachahall. Ein großer Wein. 100/100 *** Kirchspiel GG: Säure zwischen 8-9 g, Restzucker 3-4 g, Alkohol zwischen 12 und 12,5°. Ernte aller GGs in der letzten Oktoberwoche. Schlanke Nase. Kalkstein. Sehr feine Birne und gelbe Melone. Auch weiße Frucht. Weinbergspfirsich. Schlank und filign. Sehr fein, burgundisch, Meursault-Touch. Sehr geschliffener, fast zarter Mund. Im zweiten Ansatz kommen denn rote und gelbe Zitrusfrüchte. Auch Zitronengs und Grapefruit . Insgesamt sehr zart und poliert bleibend. Ein tänzelndes Kirchspiel. Filign und voller Finesse mit schöner salziger, mineralischer Länge. Sehr feiner, tänzelnd eleganter Wein mit schönem Schmelz und sehr gutem Trinkfluss. 97-98+/100

Jancis Robinson: Morstein GG: I do not know whether Klaus Peter Keller will view this as an insult or a compliment, but to my personal perception the 2013 Morstein has turned out very burgundian in style. The high extract indicates that grapes were once again picked very late, but this high-risk policy has been handsomely rewarded with a velvety texture, great substance and generous body. Of course the cool minerality and fresh juicy fruit are there as ever, but also a sound herbaceous note which I tend to associate with spontaneous fermentation. Almost more powerful in its expression than in preceding years, but with perfect structure. 19/20 AbtsE GG: There are many who regard the Abtserde as the jewel in the crown of Keller’s Grosse Gewächse, and if you are an ardent admirer of the mineral aspect, this view would be well justified. The contribution of fruit is a little more restrained in 2013, leaving room for a profound herbal expression to add complexity. As always in challenging vintages Keller has managed to accumulate an incredible amount of extract which does give the Abtserde a very generous texture and almost Burgundian character. 19/20 Hubacker GG: Even at the risk of blunting the proverbial razor blade by employing the expression for a second time, there’s no better way of describing Klaus Peter Keller’s use of the pruning shears in the cool and wet autumn of 2013 to drastically reduce yields for the benefit of extract. In a mysterious way this has led to a composition of floral aromas and a ripe yellow fruit fragrance which can only be described as magical. Lean, taut and fresh the wine shows so much vibrancy on the palate that it is hard to see how in this vintage any other of the estate’s Grosse Gewächse could rival the Hubacker in terms of excitement and energy. But this one really needs to be given time to find its equilibrium. 19,5/20 G-Max: Tasted blind. Almost pounces on the nose and opens the lungs with the menthol freshness of green herbs. Some may harbour reservations about the pronounced vegetal pungency, but dedicated followers of spontaneous fermentation will relish the sharp intake of minty breath. The G-Max 2013 is certainly not lacking ripeness, but is crunchier and tighter than other vintages, with vegetal notes gaining the upper hand over fruit and minerality. Invigorating acidity and a savoury piquancy tickle the palate in both sense of taste and mouthfeel. 18,5/20 Hipping GG: The fragrance of the Hipping may be quite delicate, but still manages to exhibit almost exotic aromas, enhanced by some fine herbal notion. The palate is very subtle in its expression of citrus fruit, complemented by a refreshing but never cutting acidity. With its creamy texture and trim body the Hipping expresses a finesse and elegance that may have been more difficult to achieve at the Rheinfront in a warmer vintage. It certainly differs in style from Keller’s Wonnegaugewächse, preferring the use of the velvet glove to that of the iron-mineral fist. 18,5/20
