Am Gaumen zeigt sich eine intensive Konzentration und eine Frische, die wie eine reine Essenz gelber Grapefruitschalen ist, mit all ihrer verführerischen Bitterkeit, mit ihrer prägnanten Geschmackstiefe, mit ihrem Reichtum und ihrer Direktheit an ätherischem Öl. Der Wein ist reichhaltig, geradlinig und direkt, ganz einfach eine exquisite Erfahrung. Wunderbarer endloser Abgang. 98/100

James Suckling: Aromas of bitter lemons, dried lemons, ginger, cumin and sage. It’s medium-bodied with a solid core of fruit and a fresh finish. Tight at the end, with a dried fruit and lemon tart aftertaste. 97/100

Robert Parker: Originating from a late September harvest, the 1995 Blanc de Blancs Blanc des Millénaires comes close to the quality of the 1985, despite its higher yields, revealing a deep bouquet of lemon confit, pear, freshly baked bread, peach and orange oil. Full-bodied, ample and elegantly muscular, the palate is underpinned by a rich core of fruit and chalky extract that imparts a compelling sense of freshness. It is animated by ripe yet racy acidity and culminates in a long, saline finish. Readers will be well acquainted with this rendition, which remained on the market for fully seven years due to a production of approximately half a million bottles. Any bottle variation—setting aside each reader's individual storage conditions, of course—can be attributed to the natural cork closures employed by the house at the time. It was disgorged in 2016 with a dosage of nine grams per liter. 96/100

It certainly doesn't need to be kept any longer – to judge from my many tasting notes, the peak may have been reached in 2017 – and may just be losing its vitality but is still a beautifully balanced wine with great savour and depth of flavour. 17,5/20
