Beschreibung

Suckling: G Max: Explosive youthful freshness! A shimmering interplay of flintiness with fine stone and exotic fruit aromas drags you into this immensely concentrated, medium-bodied dry riesling which has breathtaking energy and minerality. Fantastic lime freshness at the almost endless finish. Decades of aging potential. 100/100 (2024) Hipping: So incredibly fine and silky, this glides over your palate, pulling you with it. Frankly grapey, but also flinty with stacks of wild herb complexity. Quite some richness on the mid-palate, then comes the very refined finish with great stony intensity, the tannins expertly held in check. Extremely low yield. 97/100 (2023) Morstein: Extremely cool nose with great wild herb complexity. Yes, this is very concentrated, but the incredible finesse is what makes it stand out. Become a seeker and travel through this astonishingly varied landscape, admire the details and return home with a treasure chest of memories. Minty freshness of a kind I haven’t encountered before in this vintage. Then the journey continues through the super-long and super-subtle finish. 98/100 (2023) Krichspiel: A super-elegant, high-end, dry riesling with the combination of restrained ripeness and lively and subtle acidity that characterizes the best side of the 2022 vintage. The aromas at the front are very stone fruit-focused, but at the back it turns decisively in a citrusy direction and there the chalky minerality builds and builds. All this is deftly supported by fine tannins. 95/100 (2023) Oberer Hubacker: All the colors of the peach: yellow, white and red-fleshed! Fabulous succulence is married to a zesty freshness that creates an electric tension. Great concentration on the mid-palate, but the intensity only builds at the very long, energetic and wet stone finish. Doesn’t want to stop! 97/100 (2023)

Parker: G Max: The most recent release of this iconic wine is the 2022 Riesling G-Max, which I gave a score of 95+ last year in the summer when I tasted it for the first time in the context of Keller's 2022 Rieslings, when the wine showed up as a concentrated and intense yet still reductive purist. Six months later, not much has changed. The nose is dense, enormously aromatic and fruity and intermingles with yeasty and salty notes. Dense, round and juicy on the palate, with generous, accessible fruit but also a fine, mineral acid structure, this is again a rather slender, elegant and perhaps less dramatic G-Max compared to the 2021 or 2019. It already dries pretty well this young but will reveal its true character only over the next 10 or more years. The wine will be available in May 2024 (for those who are lucky enough to get a bottle or two). Whether it really has the substance and class of the last 10 vintages remains to be seen. 95+/100 (2024) Hipping: The 2022 Riesling Niersteiner Hipping GG opens with clear, deep, elegant and delicately spicy fruit that is still slightly reductive but ripe and concentrated. This is dense, firm and juicy on the palate, with good fruit intensity and phenolic structure. The acidity is fine, fresh and salty, and the finish is long and intense. It's an impressive Riesling from the heat of the red slope. 39+/100 (2023) Morstein: From 60- to 70-year-old vines, the rare 2022 Riesling Westhofener Morstein GG Alte Reben shows a clear and finely chalky bouquet with delicate but juicy fruit and a touch of exoticism but also citrus notes. Dense, juicy and fine on the palate, with delicate salinity and persistent finesse, this is a great, calm, relaxed Morstein Riesling that is not showy but radiantly confident. 96/100 (2023) Kirchspiel: Keller's 2022 Riesling Westhofener Kirchspiel GG opens with a clear, elegant, dense and chalky nose with a ripe, intense fruit and notes reminiscent of iodine. Elegant, dense and chalky on the palate, with an intense, tightly woven and salty-savory finish, this is an excellent finessed Kirchspiel and very typical for its terroir. 94/100 (2023) Oberer Hubacker: The 2022 Riesling Dalsheimer Oberer Hubacker GG is very clear and reductive in its dense, aromatic and slightly salty nose, which combines fresh pineapple, delicate citrus fruit and fine herbal aromas. Juicy and intense on the palate yet fine and elegant, with delicate salinity and fine tannin structure as well as good length, this is one of Keller's finest Hubackers of the last 20 years, but it still needs some time to develop. 94+/100 (2023)
