Chateau Trotte Vieille 2000

James Suckling: Complex aromas of dark and dried fruits, plums and dried meat. Full body with a dense palate and refined tannins. Decadent but fresh: a beautiful contrast. One of the best ever from Trotte Vieille. Decant at least three hours in advance. 94/100 (2015)

Robert Parker: This is the best bottle of Trottevieille ‘00 that I have encountered, undoubtedly superior to several previous samples. Here, it offers a lovely blackberry, mineral rich nose that demonstrates fine precision and clarity at 13-years of age, almost Left Bank in style thanks to that sous-bois component. The palate is medium-bodied and nicely balanced, those brutish tannins of its youth finally mellowing out, although it is still missing a little personality on the finish. Not a bad Saint Emilion but a long chalk, but it could be better. Tasted December 2012. 90/100 (2013)
