Beschreibung
James Suckling: This is a wine that has been maligned over the years by a number of critics but I could never understand why. Perhaps there is a some bottle inconsistency? I drank a bottle last week in Shanghai at Fook Lam Moon restaurant with some friends and my girlfriend and it was wonderful, with dark chocolate, mushrooms and black truffle character that turned to dried fruits such as light prunes. It's full-bodied with amazing decadent fruit and a dense palate. Soft textured, long and delicious. So rich and gorgeous. Drink or hold. It was excellent with the roasted chicken done in a Peking duck style. 94/100 (2016)
Robert Parker: I have had brilliant bottles of the 1982 Figeac, but this wine appears to be characterized by above-average bottle variation. Exhibiting aromas of sweet berry fruit, baking spices and currants, but also a pronounced minty, herbaceous streak, this example is medium-bodied, supple and seamless, with melted tannins and a fragrant finish; but it lacks the texture and completeness of the best bottles. At its best, the 1982 can merit a score two or three points higher, so I was sorry not to land on a great bottle for this report. 92/100 (2022)
Jancis Robinson: Dark rust colour. Pale rim. Sweet and rather winningly balanced. Light digestive-biscuit flavour! Transparent. Fresh and clean and very 21st century. Lively and utterly winning. Though it’s far from concentrated and is very defiantly unusual. Long-lived. Healthy and fresh. 18/20 (2022)
