Chateau Sociando Mallet 1995 in 12er Holzkiste

Robert Parker: This accessible, yet tannic example of Sociando-Mallet possesses a deep ruby/purple color, and excellent aromatics consisting of jammy black cherries, blackberries, and cassis, as well as subtle notes of minerals, earth, and new oak. This is a deep, long, muscular, tannic wine that is structurally similar to the 1996. Patience will be required from purchasers of this high class wine. 90/100 (1998)

Jeff Leve: Firm, crisp, crunchy, red fruit, strict tannins and a strong note of cedar, herbs green pepper, tobacco leaf, cranberry and red plums are on the nose and palate. This is very old-school in nature, so some will like this more than I did. 87/100

Jancis Robinson: Much deeper crimson than the regular cuvée. Thick and opulent on the nose – almost unrecognisable as from this part of the Médoc! Sweet start and very flattering. Nice freshness on the finish reassures one that local character has not been lost. Quite thick tannins though. Much sweeter than the regular bottling. 17/20
