Suckling: Quite funky from reduction with a sleek and racy personality for this rather warm region. This is a concentrated but rather challenging wine. Lots of drive at the crisp finish. Drink in 2019. 93/100

Falstaff: Grapefruit, aber auch reifere, »süßere« Zitrusfrucht, Blutorange, ein klein wenig Hefe. Mild im Ansatz, feste Säure, eine seidige Textur, leicht salzig und pfeffrig, fast schon schlank im Abgang, aber das homogen und terpengetragen. Sehr gutes Potenzial. 93/100

Jancis Robinson: ‘Än ächde Pelzer’ is very poorly translated into ‘an original local’ from the Palatinate (a region in southwest Germany). And that's what this Schwarzer Herrgott represents to me. On the nose a hint of forest air; on the palate a mouthful of juicy fruit garnished with a sprinkling of fresh mint. I was all for it, except the slightly sweet finish, although I may once more find myself in the minority of one. 17,5/20
