Beschreibung

Parker zu 2016: From the oldest parcels of the cru and fermented in new stück and halbstück oak vats plus a few stainless steel tanks, the 2016 Nahe Riesling Niederhäuser Hermannshöhle Trocken "Magnus" opens with a lovely pure, fine, mineral and flinty bouquet of ripe Riesling and crushed stone aromas. Intense and elegant on the palate, this is a generous, crystalline and spicy Riesling cru with perfectly ripe fruit and a long, salty finish with lingering fruit flavors. It is a big, concentrated and complex but also refined and very promising Hermannshöhle that will age very well over the next two decades. 93/100

Parker zu 2018: From partly very old vines planted in 1939, the 2018 Niederhäuser Hermannshöhle trocken Magnus is a picture-book wine for this vineyard, says Jakob Schneider. Ripe and cloudy apple juice aromas intermixing with yeasty and crystalline Riesling notes are quite similar on the nose to mature Champagne. On the palate, this is a lush and round, crystalline, fine and pure, persistently tensioned and salty Riesling with the generosity and balance of a great wine. This is a powerful but relaxed, refined and balanced Riesling with vivacious character and grip. 92+/100

Suckling zu 2016: The most closed and fundamentally mineral of Jakob Schneider's 2016 single vineyard dry rieslings this needs at least another year, better two, to open up. Densely structured with plenty of positive tannins, but still rather elegant, this will be stunning through the next decade and beyond. 95/100

Suckling zu 2018: Plenty of fragrant, floral notes with fresh white peaches, too. The depth and detail here is stunning and there’s a very fresh and juicy feel on the palate, which has such completeness. The wine emanates fluidly from a central fruit core, offering such impressive grapefruit and lemon flavors. This is a discreet powerhouse. Try from 2023. 96/100
