Robert Parker: Lafon's 1994 Volnay 1er Cru Les Santenots-du-Milieu is showing well from this challenging vintage that saw hopes of a great year dashed by heavy rain just before harvest. Opening in the glass with aromas of sweet raspberries, cassis and vine smoke, framed by toasty new oak, it's medium to full-bodied, with an ample core of fruit framed by plenty of rich, powdery tannin, concluding with a flavorful but slightly rustic finish. 91/100 (2023)
