Sonderrücketikett Schaffermahl 2004
Galloni: The 1998 Siran repeats the performance of a couple of years back, the particular vintage under the consultancy of Michel Rolland. Lush blackberry and briary aromas, that hint of clove that I remarked upon in previous notes, it offers Rolland’s typical riper take on the vintage and here it works well. The palate is medium-bodied with soft tannin and fine acidity. There is commendable density and presence although it clearly lacks finesse and detail. It is just a thoroughly enjoyable Margaux. Tasted at the vertical retrospective at Château Siran. Drinking Window: 2020 - 2035
