James Suckling: Shows beautiful age and character now after all this time in the bottle. Notes of earth, spice and ripe berries. Full and juicy, with round tannins. 95/100 (2014)

Wine Spectator: Blockbuster. Dark ruby color. Intense aromas ofblackberries, currants, cherries and minerals.Full-bodied, very tannic yet velvety in texture.Black licorice and berry character lasts forminutes. Long, chewy finish. A monster. 95/100 (2000)

Jeff Leve: Big, muscular and tannic, the wine offers tobacco, cassis, black cherry and forest floor scents. Traditional in style, from a blend of 44% Cabernet Sauvignon, 44% Merlot and 12% Petit Verdot, this solid wine is fully mature. 90/100 (2012)

Jancis Robinson: First bottle: not 100% clean. Medium depth, glowing crimson. Very rich and sweet and fleshy. Very rich and almost right bank in its appeal. A hint of decay. Still lots of pleasure though. Second bottle: more opulent on the nose. Very clean and fresh and much more youthful than the first bottle. Hint of malty chocolate. Very sweet and rich, though with lots of development ahead. Younger than many 1990s. Great stuff. 18+/20 (2010)
