Lobenberg: Extrem dunkles Rubinrot, fast schwarz. Sehr konzentrierte, ätherische Nase, die aus dem Glas strömt. Die Nase wird komplett besetzt mit dieser Duftorgie. Feine Süße. Sehr viel schwarze Frucht. Etwas Teer. Etwas Schoko. Betörend. Im Mund unerwartet fein. Schönes Volumen mit viel roter Frucht. Wie gewohnt bei Grand Puy Lacoste ein Touch Chateauneuf, in diesem Jahr aber dann eher der Stil von Chateau Pegau. Sehr kraftvoll. Sehr voluminös. Schön gezeichnet. Tolle Länge. Insgesamt für Grand Puy Lacoste eine bislang nie erreichte Harmonie. Totale Balance. Der Wein macht viel Freude, ohne zu den ganz Großen des Jahrgangs zu gehören, dafür fehlt vielleicht der letzte Druck, die letzte Feinheit, aber auf jeden Fall ein Topwert. 94-95+/100

James Suckling: A stunning wine! This shows exceptional depth, with precision and richness beautifully knit together. Aromas of graphite and something darker (think Chinese ink) make your nose want to go deeper. Subtle touches of savoriness and cigars shows evolution. Medium- to full-bodied on the palate, with firm and fine tannins and an extremely long finish. 78% cabernet sauvignon and 22% merlot. Complex and already approachable, but it will easily keep well for 20 years. Drink or hold. 98/100

Robert Parker: This estate's finest wine of the decade is the 2005 Grand-Puy-Lacoste, a fleshy, sumptuous wine evocative of cassis, sweet red berries and cigar box, framed by a touch of creamy new oak that integrates with opening. Medium to full-bodied, deep and layered, with an enveloping core of fruit, rich tannins and a seamless but authoritative profile, it concludes with a long, resonant finish. Just entering early maturity, it will continue to develop for several decades. 96/100

Jeff Leve: Clearly the best value in Pauillac today, this is classic in all the right ways. Expressive, yet stoic, the wine is full-bodied, concentrated, tannic and filled with tobacco-drenched creme de cassis, red plums, cedar, wet earth, cigar wrapper and forest leaf. Youthful, fresh and still waiting for its prime time window, two hours of decanting or 3-4 years in the cellar will do the trick.95/100

Falstaff: Tiefdunkles Rubingranat, violette Reflexe, breitere Randaufhellung, in der Nase feine, tabakig unterlegte rotbeerige Frucht. Am Gaumen elegant und frisch, saftige Tannine, Kirsche im Nachhall, zarter Mokka-Anklang, feiner Schokotouch, sehr gutes Lagerpotenzial. Finessenreich, mit fester Struktur. 93/100

Jancis Robinson: Shaded crimson still! Classic firm Pauillac with great balance and zestiness. One of the most comfortable wines in this collection. Pure Pauillac with a definite future but no rough edges. Real drive. So neat and perfect! 18/20
