Chateau Ducru Beaucaillou 2eme Cru 1982

Parker: From my cellar, the 1982 Ducru-Beaucaillou is one of the most youthful of the Médoc crus classés today. Unwinding in the decanter and glass with a rich bouquet of blackcurrants, licorice, cigar wrapper and loamy soil, it's full-bodied, fleshy and muscular, with a broad attack that segues into a deep core of fruit framed by ripe, powdery tannins and succulent acids. It's an unusually big-boned rendition of this elegant-styled wine, but it's no less compelling for that. 96/100

Jeff Leve: One of the recently released bottles from Ducru Beaucaillou, which you can tell, as it sports the modern design, was about as good a bottle of 82 Ducru as you are ever going to have. Full-bodied, elegant, rich, multi-layered, and multi-faceted, the tobacco, cedar, currant, and wet forest profile on the nose was great. But the layers of ripe, lush, rich fruits with their silky, refined tannins stole the show. Popped and poured, perhaps 30 minutes or so would have improved the experience, but as the wine developed in the glass, we were more than happy. 98/100 (2021)

Falstaff: Kräftiges Karmingranat, Rubinreflexe, recht dunkle Farbe. In der Nase reifes, dunkles Beerenkonfit, zart nach Dörrobst und Nougat, eine klare, saubere Nase, mit feinen Gewürzanklängen unterlegt. Am Gaumen stoffig, feine ätherische Anklänge, schokoladige Noten, feine, kraftvolle Tannine, ein hocheleganter Wein voll dunklem Beerenkonfit, finessenreicher Säurebogen, feine Röstaromen im Nachhall, eine absolut perfekte Flasche. So hatten auch die anderen Verkoster diesen Wein nur selten erlebt. 95/100 (2010)
