You taste the fleshy fruit flavors and the bold tones of the warmer vintage, but there's a good amount of structure and textural finesse to keep the wine in perpetual balance. This Riserva is just beginning to show the signs of careful evolution with fine dustings of white pepper and raw licorice stick. Its texture is exceedingly fine and silky. 95/100 (2015)

Antonio Galloni: The 2009 Barolo Riserva Bricco Boschis Vigna San Giuseppe is gorgeous, especially within the context of the year. Bold and explosive on the palate, the 2009 captures the essence of the ripe vintage in its racy, extroverted personality. Dark raspberry jam, cloves, new leather, menthol and licorice wrap around the resonant finish. The style is decidedly on the ripe side of things. Then again, dehydration on the vine was an issue. The 2009 spent 28 days on the skins, followed by four years in cask and a year in stainless steel. 92+/100 (22015)
