James Suckling zu 2016: With it's complex, spicy nose, enormous depth and great elegance, this is the star amongst the 2016 riesling GGs from Bassermann-Jordan. Breathtakingly long, mineral finish. Better from 2018 and the potential to age beyond 2035. 96/100

Falstaff zu 2017: Vielschichtig, wenngleich noch nicht entfaltet: Steinobst, floral, feuchter Sand. Holzfass. Höchste Komplexität. Geschmeidig im Auftakt, präsente Süße, lebendige Säure, zarte Phenole, hat Schmelz und Tiefe, fein ziselierte und dennoch reich wirkende Mineralität, ein eher extravertiertes Kirchenstück, aber mit welchem inneren Reichtum! 96/100

James Suckling zu 2015: A smoky touch adds more complexity to the ripe yellow-fruit nose, and on the palate the acidity throws a spotlight on the long, very clean and delicately mineral finish. 93/100

James Suckling zu 2017: The slight funk and all the yeasty flavors give this a bit more personality than the other 2017 GGs from this famous producer. Nice length and harmony. Drink or hold. 92/100

Jancis Robinson zu 2014: Far from demonstrative on the nose, the Kirchenstück convinces with a subtle combination of peach, mandarin and fennel aromas. The flavour is quite intense with crunchy stone fruit and a minerality bordering on flinty, with a notion of aniseed adding a herbal rather than sweet accent. The sound acidity is well-integrated with great substance and solid structure. If the mandarin component reflects the influence of barrique, it has been done in a most subtle manner. 18/20

Jancis Robinson zu 2016: Fennel, aniseed and something that smells suspiciously like oak. On the palate, I do have some passion fruit down for this, a hint of mandarin too, but the greatest impact comes from the combination of velvety texture and sweet spices, which almost overwhelms the palate in a seductive burgundian way. Rich and full-bodied, but not Riesling as I know it. The times they are a-changin! 17,5/20
