James Suckling zu 2016: Because this is still slightly funky (reduction) the pear and citrus notes are rather shy, but when they emerge after some aeration they're fine. On the palate this is already a very elegant wine with a long, rather polished finish. Drink or hold. 94/100

Falstaff zu 2017: Gelbe Pflaume, trestrige Noten, zitrisch, bereits komplex und sehr klar. Markanter Säurenerv, präsente Süße, ganz vertikal gebaut, intensiv und lang, mit Spannung und Frische, eher traditionell in seiner Proportion, mit sicherem Reifepotenzial. 94/100

Jancis Robinson zu 2016: A fragrance of apples and pears complemented by subtle herbal and spicy notes does not quite prepare you for the powerful performance of Bassermann’s Jesuitengarten on the palate. Fears about the broad and spirity character upsetting the equilibrium of a Grosses Gewächs, however, are laid to rest by an intriguing combination of spicy, nutty and mineral notes. Again, I suspect the use of wood, but it has been employed in a very judicious manner. 17/20

Jancis Robinson zu 2017: This remains lean and mean despite the years of rest it's had. It's very acidic, with lemon-rind flavours and a smoky, salty tang. Needs food. 16/20
